Carpets and under padding

There is a wide selection of under padding that can go under your carpet. The variety of materials and uses can be overwhelming but it doesn’t have to be. The right under padding is based on the needs of the room.

Primarily under padding is used to protect the carpet from mechanical stress. The stress is mostly caused in areas where there is heavy foot traffic. Overtime the carpet pile can be flattened and damaged. To prevent this under padding with a shock absorbing feature should be used underneath the carpet.

Non-slip under padding can be used to prevent your carpet from sliding and bunching up in sections. It will also reduce friction between the flooring and your carpet. This is especially useful when the carpet is placed above slippery surfaces such as tiles and hard rough surface like concrete. It will also prevent wearing of the carpet.

Getting the right under pad can improve the quality of the carpeted space. It will also make it easier to clean and prevent odors. For example it will make dirt easier to lift out of the rug with a supportive non-porous layer. It will also prevent liquid spills from soaking into the carpet. For proper maintenance carpets should be cleaned by professional carpet cleaners once a year. This will provide a deep cleaning for your rug.

It is also important to get under pads made from quality material. Cheaper material will deteriorate over time and produce dust. Other material can break apart into sections. Be sure to choose carefully and go with a reputable brand.

Stains should be treated immediately. It’s recommended that the stained area should be blotted with a paper towel and let dry. Steam carpet cleaning is suggested to remove the stains. Steam cleaners can focus on the areas and they will use selective cleaning solutions that won’t harm your carpet.
